13. Creation of Educational Field Trip Transit Pass
Be it resolved that BCCPAC support the creation of a low cost yearly educational field trip and sports team transit pass to allow a class of children, with adult supervisors, to use transit for educational trips where public transit exists throughout BC. Interested parties should be encouraged to explore opportunities to finance this project with partners including, but not limited to, Ministry of Education, Boards of Education, Municipal Governments, Transit Authorities, BC Ferries and other community partners.

Motion carried by their organization:
THAT VESTA strongly support Trip Ed, a low cost group transit pass for educational purposes, and urge all governments, officials, and authorities to implement such a pass with deliberate speed.
Vancouver City Council Resolution
Motion passed in June 12 Special Standing Committee of Council on Transportation and Traffic
WHEREAS:

The City of Vancouver’s sustainability goals can only be achieved in the context of a major regional investment in transportation and transit;

Translink Council of Mayors has unanimously recommended a 10-year plan that requires a $450 million annual increase in funding along with a major increase in provincial funding support;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That Council reiterate its support for a $450 million annual 10-year plan supplement that includes

A universal pass for post-secondary students;

A Trip-Ed concessionary fare for K-12 students on field trips;

Appropriate investments to facilitate goods movement, and
-
Transport demand management measures that encourage mode shifts, including road pricing.

Vancouver School Board
Motion passed in March 30, 2009 Special Board Meeting:
That the Vancouver Board of Education endorse the TripEd Transit Pass, in principle, and write a letter of support to Metro School Boards, BC School Trustees’ Association, Vancouver City Council, and Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.
